Don’t Skip Desserts But Have Healthier Ones

Desserts

If you are having a full course dinner, then you would surely have desserts at the end. Usually the desserts served are usually high in calories and can easily get you fat. It is unfortunate we are used to having rich desserts as we don’t mind taking those extra unneeded calories. We even crave for more desserts even though unconsciously we know our body knows we don’t need more of it.

Having a lot of fat in the body is unhealthy. Our body will grow to a large proportion. Then we risk having heart complications and high blood pressure. The list would just keep on going. Cancer possibilities and higher chance to get a stroke. If you want to live past 60, then I suggest you make a change in your diet with low fat dessert recipes.

Rather than refraining ourselves from eating desserts, we should find ways to make desserts more healthy. Making a low fat dessert from low fat dessert recipes is one of the way to do it. You don’t need to worry about getting too much calories when you eat from low fat dessert recipes and can keep eating them without worries of getting fat.

Thanksgiving Desserts Can Be Improved With Wine

Desserts

As published in The Naperville Sun, The Beacon News, The Courier News and The Herald News – November 19, 2010

By BILL GARLOUGH for Sun Times Media

Ever notice your kitchen is the room where everyone gathers when entertaining friends and family?  This is particularly true at Thanksgiving, where the meal’s enticing aromas of roast turkey, savory dressing and warm pumpkin pie are sure to attract a crowd.

As opposed to serving dinner by courses, the Thanksgiving dinner typically is served all at once.  Your palate can be quickly overwhelmed by flavors ranging from candied sweet potatoes, herb stuffing and tart cranberry sauce, making the wine pairing very challenging.  I have read many Thanksgiving dinner wine pairing ideas, including Chardonnay (to match the rich, buttery turkey meat) and Pinot Noir (to match the earthiness of the herb mushroom stuffing).  Some folks offer both white and red wine and let their guests choose.  My singular choice would be a low tannin red wine, like French Burgandy/Oregon Pinot Noir or a Southern Rhone from France.  These wines can stand up to the hearty flavors of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, while offering a soft elegance that allows the complex flavors to come through.

You Should Eat Healthy Desserts

Desserts

There are people who think that a meal can only be completed if there is a dessert. It is very true that we love dessert. However the fact is that most desserts out there are not something healthy. There are just too much salt, sugar and fat. As a result, you should only eat desserts which are good for your health. This is even more important if you want to lose weight.

You may want to know what kinds of desserts are considered healthier. What you have to be careful is that desserts which are of low fat content do not necessarily mean they are something healthy. In most cases, you will tend to eat twice as much of the dessert if it is low fat dessert. In this case you will only eat more fat than you should. A lot of overweight people will fall into this trap. They think that it is low fat and they can eat more. However, you should never do that otherwise you will not be able to lose weight.
