Home Recipe for Catfish Bait

Home Recipes

Have you ever been fishing and witnessed someone catching all the fish?  I have many times.  When I see someone hauling in stringers full of fish I get very curious.  On occasion, I have asked about their secret techniques pertaining to equipment and bait.

A lot of times I will get the polite smile and response such as “just lucky today” or “you know…same ol’ stuff.”  I’ll ask what type of bait and that is usually when I will get the silent treatment.  The typical response, “sorry, secret family recipe” or “if I tell you, I’ll have to kill you.”

Through the years, I have collected some very useful information concerning fishing baits.  The most important realization was that the people who were catching the most fish were not using store bought baits.  It seems that they made their own baits.

Some anglers in the past divulged some secrets pertaining to their baits.  I thank them for it.  I have developed my own formulas but this is not the time or place to reveal them.  However, I have compiled the main ingredients found in the most potent catfish bait formulas.

A Home Recipe for Cleaning your Silver Jewelry

Home Recipes

When I was a little girl my mother had an old home recipe for cleaning her silver flat wear and silver jewelry. It was simple and took less than a half hour to do. (Actually, it takes me a little longer than Mom, she is so much more organized than I am). Now I know that many of you buy silver tarnish removers and jewelers cloths to polish your silver, and that works fine and makes your silver sparkle and shine, it is also a longer process than the one I am recommending. If time is of the essence and you are in a hurry or for that day when you can’t find your silver cleaners, here is the formula for using simple household items found in your kitchen. I call it my 5 step plan.

Step 1: Find a glass bowl or baking dish.

Step 2: Line it with aluminum foil.

Step 3: Put the silver jewelry in the bowl – on top of the foil.

Step 4: Take a large tablespoon of baking soda and spread it over the jewelry.

Red Lobster Clam Chowder Directions:

Melt butter over medium heat in a large soup pot.
Add onion, celery, leeks, and garlic. Saute for 3 minutes, stirring often.
Remove from heat. Stir in flour. Mix well.
Add milk. Whisk it like you really mean it!
Set a colander over soup pot. Pour clams into the colendar, allowing the juice to drain into the pot. When completely strained, set clams aside.
Return pot to heat (med-high heat) and slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Add potatoes and seasonings. Reduce heat to low.
Let simmer for 10 minutes.
Add clams and let simmer an additional 6-9 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in heavy cream. Let simmer another minute or two.
Serve in hot sourdough bread bowls or in your favorite cup or bowl.
Enjoy!

And there you have it! Your very own Red Lobster Clam Chowder to serve on its own in a nice crisp sourdough bread bowl or as a nice starter before a special meal.  But I’m sure you already know how you’d like to eat it, so I’ll just let you do it your way!

French Toast Recipe for the Family

It’s 8AM and your kids are screaming and jumping because they need the most important part of their day, breakfast. There’s many good breakfast recipes around, but a simple one is the good old French toast.

So while your kids are running around and calling “mommy!”  you can swiftly open up the fridge and pull out 2 eggs and some milk. Then move yourslef close to the cupboards and pull out the all mighty French bread. Now your kids are probably wondering what your going to make them. This usually ends up calming them down and eagerly waiting to see what your preparing.

Crack both eggs into a medium bowl, but don’t get any shell inside. Add a tiny bit of milk in the bowl, just use your eye and estimate half the size of your fist. Make sure you had the pan hot and ready. Mix the eggs and milk till well battered and then dip your French bread inside of it till it soaks up nicely. Then splatter that on a hot pan and flip over when you feel its golden.

After having about 6 pieces of French toast cooked and ready to serve, place this on the table with some maple syrop and watch your kids devour it.
